PureWest Real Estate, Montana’s premier real estate concierge brokerage, has 18 offices statewide, from Bigfork to Big Sky. The heart of the company, though, is based in Kalispell. The real estate brokerage has called the Flathead Valley home since 1992, when co-owner Dale Crosby Newman moved to this scenic corner of the state after graduating from the University of Montana with a business degree. The savvy Midwesterner had already begun purchasing and developing properties in Missoula, and planned to do the same in the valley. An outdoorsman, he loved the independent lifestyle that self-employment as an real estate agent afforded, because it allowed him to enjoy the lifestyle here to its fullest.

Dale Crosby Newman Over the last two decades, his business venture grew and grew, until the summer of 2015, when his firm, then called West Venture, merged with Trails West, a real estate office based in Bigfork, and PureWest, a burgeoning firm in Bozeman. And while the new brand, which represents the biggest luxury real estate market in the state, could have been based in any Montana community, Newman was firm: He would remain in Kalispell, and the small town would serve as PureWest’s new headquarters.

The business now sells multimillion properties under the Christie’s International Real Estate name, a brand synonymous with luxury and real estate excellence. With more than more than 125 affiliated brokerages, 1,095 Christie's offices, and 32,200 agents worldwide, PureWest has the resources to make almost any Montana dream come true. As the name suggests, PureWest is in the business of selling what makes Montana, Montana. Newman knows the state and the people buying luxury homes here better than anyone. And he believes that Kalispell is the town that best represents the Big Sky state experience.

“Most Montanan towns are pretty amazing places,” Newman said. “But we wanted to have one look, feel, and brand that would cross the whole state. Kalispell encapsulates what the state is about: old west and new west coming together.”

It’s Montana’s fastest growing city, yet it has held onto its cowboy roots. Newman noted the quality healthcare, flourishing downtown, and influx of new businesses.

“It’s the heart of the valley, everything you need is here now,” Newman said. “In ‘92, the economy was slower, and the town was smaller. But the lifestyle was always there. It’s a wonderful environment.”

That’s why, as Kalispell has grown and changed, Newman has stayed put, invested in the success of the town and dedicated to its community.

“I’ve put a lot into being here and making it home,” he said. "PureWest wants to be an integral part of the growth of the area, and I see very positive things in the future for Kalispell."
